Traffic Impacts are as follows:
- Flagging operations will be in place as needed throughout the duration of the project.
- Demolition of the old bridge is underway. The bridge deck will be removed first and then the steel portion of the structure will be removed by the barge in the water.
- Boaters should use caution if entering the lake from Roanoke Boat Ramp. Boats will have to pass through a work zone in the middle of the lake by the bridge for access into the lake.
- Drivers should expect delays and prepare their travel plans accordingly.

There are no public meetings scheduled.
The new Route 634 (Hardy Road) bridge over the Roanoke River at Smith Mountain Lake was opened to traffic in August 2019. The bridge replacement project is still underway and is expected to be completed by December 2019. The location for the work is 0.19 mile west of the Franklin County line to 0.12 mile east of the Bedford County line.
