Recently Completed: Route 603 over Blackwater River

Contract crews for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed Route 603 (3 Bridges Road) over the Blackwater River starting January 3, 2018 for a bridge replacement project. It reopened on May 17, 2019. 

The work zone is between Route 614 (Camera Road) and Route 603 (3 Bridge Road). 

Benefits 

The purpose of this project is to replace the Rt. 603 Bridges over the Blackwater River and rebuild the approach roadway sections damaged by construction activities. 

The new bridges will be two structures, with one bridge span totaling 45 feet long and 28 feet wide, and another 6-span bridge totaling 270 feet long and 24 feet wide within the existing right way.
