In Design: Route 58 Lane Reversal

The Route 58 Reversal Project will construct infrastructure improvements to facilitate the emergency evacuation of large numbers of people in vehicles out of the Hampton Roads region. The improvements consist of constructing crossovers and advance signage at the confluence of I-64, I-264, and I-664, allowing for westbound traffic to utilize the existing eastbound lanes of US 58. 

Other improvements include the placement of gates to control access to the interstate and US 58 systems in order to avoid conflict with the contra flow traffic operations in the existing eastbound lanes.
