Recently Completed: Route 301 Intersection Improvements at Owens Drive and Bennion Road
This project will extend several existing turn lanes on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the intersection with Owens Drive and Bennion Road in King George County.
Lengthening these turn lanes adds storage space for a greater number of vehicles, which is anticipated to reduce delays and congestion for Route 301 through traffic.
The intersection is located near the Gate B entrance to the Naval Support Facility South Potomac at Dahlgren.
Three turn lanes will be extended at the intersection:
- Route 301 southbound left turn lane
- Route 301 southbound right turn lane
- Route 301 northbound left turn lane
New Intersection Design Plan Sheet

No lane closures are permitted during peak travel times, which are defined as 5-9 a.m. and 3:30-7 p.m. on weekdays.
